About Me
If you’ve reached this page you’re probably wondering about my credentials. I am so happy to oblige you! Here are a few professional tidbits about me. (The juicier stuff comes later).
I completed a Bachelor’s Degree in Honours, English in 2019 from MacEwan University.
During that time, I volunteered for BGCBigs (Boys and Girls Club Big Brothers Big Sisters of Edmonton & Area) as a writer for their blog, worked as a research assistant, and nannied on the side.
After I graduated, I joined BGCBigs as a Communications Assistant. I wrote grants, drafted content for the agency blog, prepared newsletters, and managed all of their social media channels. I really gleaned a lot about professional writing during this time and had a lot of opportunities to perfect my craft.
In 2020 (hello pandemic) I took a course on Copy-Writing through the University of British Columbia. I love thinking about consumer psychology and creating content that resonates and captivates people.
In 2021, I left BGCBigs and moved my family across the country to Ontario, to complete a Master’s of English at Western University. It was incredible and I loved every minute of it. Call me a nerd, but learning is fun.
I walked across that big ol’ stage in October of 2022, accepted that hard-earned degree and then packed up our old blue minivan and trekked back West (Calgary). I suppose the mountains were calling.
That brings us to the present day. Now let’s move on to the really interesting stuff.
I’ve always loved words. Reading and writing have been a creative outlet for me since I was a child, scribbling away in my journals (there are many, and yes they are now rather embarrassing to read) or getting lost in a book. Anything by L. M. Montgomery has a special place in my heart. I’m always trying to climb my own “Alpine Path.”
I have two adorable children and being a mom is the best thing ever. Ok yes, sometimes it’s also really difficult and every day I’m hoping that my toddler will finally out-grow the tantrum phase but honestly, I love those squishy faces more than anything.
When I was a child, I always told people I would be a professional violinist when I grew up. After 14 years of private lessons, I am way worse at the violin than I should be. (Sorry for not practicing more, Mom).
I’m a born and raised Southern Alberta farm girl living in Calgary, AB. I like homemade bread and I read a lot of fiction. Sometimes I write, too.
If you’ve made it to the end I hope you have a sense of who I am - a story-teller with a penchant for whimsical literature and a slightly glib sense of humour. I’d love to chat more with you about crafting the perfect content for your next project. Talk soon!
